Abstract

Pterocarpus santalinus Linn, In general, called as Red Sandalwood. It belongs to the Fabaceae family. It is mostly used in India and other countries of the world. This plant is famous for its colour and magnificent wood. The Red Sandalwood has its own natural colour i.e., santalin. It is mostly used in medicinal preparations and also colouring agent in food. Decoction made from heartwood are believed to have medicinal properties in earlier drug system. This research paper focuses on uses and various benefits of Red sandal wood. Growing red sandal wood will create great opportunities for farmers. This study is based on secondary data.
